by Peter Brassel - Australia
I
first decided to join the Gospel Fire International team back in
December 2005 after much prayer and consideration. I was aware of a
need they had for help in the workshop at the compound in Eldoret
Kenya.. Not a mechanic, I said yes anyway.
I had never been to Africa before and I was not sure what I would find
when I arrived. Never the less, trusting in God I boarded my flight in
early January 2006 having agreed to spend the next 12 months with G.F.I
both at the base and away on Evangelistic outreaches.
My first outreach was in Sudan, and at soft 56 years of age it was no
picnic, but what I experienced God do there changed my whole
understanding of what it means to live by faith. The thousands of
people who came and gave their hearts to Jesus was just overwhelming
for me.
Well, during that year with G.F.I it became clear to me that God had
sent me there for a reason, but it was not what I thought it was. I
finally returned to Australia in 2009 having had the most interesting,
challenging, spiritually rewarding and faith building time of my life.
I have learned to really trust God in every circumstance.
I had the privilege of serving with a team of Godly people the likes of
which I have never met before. A multi National group, sometimes we did
not even know each others language, yet everything just seemed to
function regardless.
Challenges are the norm, but so is Gods grace and I received it 24/7.
As I wait on God to reveal the next part of His plan for me, I pray He
will put me back into the frontlines of Evangelism with Gospel Fire
International. I am proof that God will use anyone, even an old bloke
like me.
If you feel God calling you to get involved with us somehow, just take
the first step, contact G.F.I today and see how you too can help build
Gods Kingdom. |
